Coffeyville - John R. Doan, 60, of Coffeyville passed away Thursday, August 15, 2013 at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center, due to failing health.
He was born July 23, 1953 in Coffeyville to Woodrow and Jane (Crisp) Doan. John grew up and attended school in Coffeyville, graduating from Field Kindley High School.
John was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Viet Nam War.
He married Maxine L. Rupert, they were married for over 25 years, and she preceded him in death.
In 2004 he married Debbie Blackburn, she preceded him in death in 2012.
John was employed as a driver for Pony Express, worked as a security guard for Eagle Security, worked as a cook, and served as a pastor at different churches.
He was a member of Emmanuel Chapel in South Coffeyville, OK. John enjoyed fishing, and helping others.
Survivors include two step-daughters, Lisa Romines and Kim Blackburn; one sister, Joy Featheringill of Tulsa, OK; one brother, Tony Doan of Coffeyville; and many grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wives Maxine and Debbi, two stepsons, Richie and Troy Romines, one brother, J.R. Doan, and one sister, Janie Caroline Doan.
A memorial service will at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at the Fairview Cemetery Veterans Memorial Patio. Military Honors will be conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars of #1022 and American Legion Post #20.
Friends may sign the register book on Monday from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
