HARRINGTON - Rosemarie (Ramsdell) Palmer, 87, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 22, 2013, at Maine Coast Memorial Hospital after a long stay at Narraguagus Bay Healthcare Facility in Milbridge. She was born Oct. 8, 1925, the daughter of the late Andrew Ramsdell and Ina Woodward Ramsdell.

She graduated from Harrington High School, and then moved to Natick, Mass., where she was employed for many years at St. Patrick's Manor. Rosemarie was an avid reader, and had great love and passion for all animals. She loved music and had a natural talent for many musical instruments including the guitar, piano, and harmonica. Rosemarie was always ready to debate the political issues of the day, and you can be certain that her side was always the correct side.

She is survived by her four children, Lewis Emerson of Columbia Falls, Andrea Burke of Milbridge, Brett and Teri Emerson of Moses Lake, Wash., and Sherrie and Marc Anthony of Holliston, Mass. Rosemarie leaves behind her grandchildren who were her pride and joy, Shane and Todd Emerson, Naomi and Rachel Burke, Heath Emerson, Brittany Emerson Hedrick, Mikala Emerson, and Lindsay and Meghan Bard. She is also survived by four great-grandchildren, Evan Emerson, Amber Emerson, Rodney Starks, and Ruger Hedrick; and four sisters and one brother, Lillian Shaw, Gloria Flaherty, Joyce Woodward, Marion and her husband, Mike Plummer, and Everett and his wife, Marjorie Ramsdell; and many nieces and nephews.

Rosemarie was predeceased by her parents, Andrew and Ina Ramsdell; her stepmother, Flora Ramsdell; a sister, Violet Lemay; a brother, Andrew Ramsdell Jr ; her two husbands, Willard Emerson, and Harry Palmer; and three brothers-in-law, John Lemay, Raymond Shaw Jr., and Stanley Flaherty. She was also predeceased by one daughter-in-law, Lynn Emerson; and son-in-law, James Burke.

In lieu of flowers, Rosemarie would passionately thank you for any donations to the Ark Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 276, Cherryfield ME 04622. Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery, Harrington. (Bangor Daily News 9/26/2013)
