According to death certificate (right), he is buried in "Elkin Cemetery". A Confederate marker was placed on his grave by the Colonel Ben Caudill Camp of the SCV several years ago. His grave and the grave of his son Wilburn are on the top of a ridge in the 1100 Block of Elkins Road. Cause of death was due to Typhoid Fever. His first wife was Elizabeth Eldridge who died in Letcher County some time after 1883. Her burial place is unknown
