He organized Belasco Productions Inc in San Francisco which didn't work out and disolved in 1925. He then worked with Fred Butler with capital furnished by E.L. Doheny and built the Belasco theatre in Los Angeles where they produced "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes" which opened the theatre in 1926.
