Singer, Songwriter and Guitarist. Born as Philip Ryan, he joined the Irish punk-rock band "The Pogues" following the release of their debut album "Red roses for me", in 1984. Before joining "The Pogues", he was already an important figure in the Irish punk scene thanks to the first-ever punk band "Radiators in Space", the band he started in 1976. He became a member as the band began work on its sophomore album, "Rum, Sodomy and the Lash", playing guitar, banjo, and mandolin. He also appears on the band's most critically acclaimed album "If I Should Fall from Grace with God" (1989). He was one of Ireland's best-loved and most influential punk rockers, and wrote The Pogues' popular ballads "Thousands Are Sailing" and "Lorelei".
