Funeral services for William Flennoy Franklin, Sr., 80, were conducted at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon at Bolton-Walton Funeral Home in Columbiana, Alabama. Burial was in Elmwood Cemetery, Birmingham, Alabama.

Mr. Franklin died Tuesday morning in the Lincoln County Hospital following a long illness.

He was a native of Lincoln County, son of the late Middleton and Catherine Elizabeth Williamson Franklin. He was a Methodist and a 32nd Degree Mason. He was a graduate of Morgan School.

Mr. Franklin operated a General Store at Smithland for several years before moving to Birmingham, Alabama in 1905, where he entered the wholesale grocery business. He reared his family in Birmingham and was prominent in Religious, Civic, and Music circles there.

He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Barney A. Isbell, Columbiana, Alabama; two sons, William F. Franklin, Jr., of Fayetteville, and and Richard E. Franklin, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; two sisters, Mrs. R. D. Gray, Fayetteville, and Mrs. John M. Earley, Bartow, Florida; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
