Actress. Daughter of actors Enrique Ponte and Haydée Mancini Puggi, she began her career on stage at the age of seven. She played in several plays during her long career, becoming one of the best actresses on stage and later in cinema, often playing women of strong character. On stage, she triumphed on "Las Bicicletas son para el Verano," "Un Enemigo del Pueblo," "Casa de Muñecas," "Las Arrecogías del Beaterio de Santa María Egipcíaca," "La Noche de la Iguana," "Panorama desde el Puente," "Sólo Dios Puede Juzgarme" or "Ni el Amor, ni el Mar." On Screen, she developed a prolific career in films such as "La Vida Por Delante" (1958), "El Cochecito" (1960),"El Verdugo" (1963), "Camisa Negra" (1976), "La Colmena" (1982) and "El Viaje a Ninguna Parte" (1986). She received the National Cinematography Award in 1992, and the Goya for Best Character Actress in 1995 for her work in "Canción de Cuna." Also, for television, she is best remembered in "Fortunata y Jacinta," "La Regenta" and "Lorca, Muerte de un Poeta." From 1954 to 1986, she was the partner of actor Agustín González.
