DEATH TAKES G. W. ALLEN

Widely Known and Respected Farmer Dies
at Brevard Road Home

G. W. Allen, aged 89, well known Henderson County farmer, died at his home here on the Brevard Road this morning at 11 o'clock. Plans for the funeral were being delayed pending word from relatives. A number of children residing away from here.

Mr. Allen was a native of Henderson County, born December 27,1853, and had lived his entire life here. He had been active on his farm up until about 2 months ago. Saturday morning he is believed to have suffered a stroke and this forenoon succumbed to his illness.

His wife, the former Miss Louise McCrary survives him, as do the following children: Sibley, Homer, Herbert, Everett, Zollie, and Mrs. Nora Shirley of Inman, and Mrs. R C. Cotner of Spartanburg, S.C.

He survived one son, Jesse by a number of years. Mr. Allen was a member of the Shaws Creek Baptist Church and was widely known and respected in this and a number of surrounding counties.

Sibley Allen, one of the sons, arrived only Friday night from Spokane, Washington for a visit with his parents, after a sojourn of several years in the West. He has been engaged in work with the Aluminum interests on the coast.

Rites Will be FromShaws Creek Baptist Church Wednesday

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the Shaws Creek Baptist Church by the Rev. W. P. Huntley and Rev. Lawrence Erwin for George Washington Allen, 89, who died at his home on Brevard Road Monday morning.
The deceased was a well-known Henderson County farmer and was active until about 2 months ago. He was a native of Henderson County and spent his entire life here.
He is survived by his wife, the former Miss Louise McCrary and the following children; Sibley, Homer, Herbert, Everett, Zollie, Mrs. Nora Shirley of Inman, and Mrs. R. C. Cotner of Spartanburg. Also surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Minnie Garren of New York City, Mrs. Will Justice of West Asheville and Mrs. Emma Kilpatrick of Melrose, N. C., and one brother, Wade H. Allen of St. Petersburg, Florida.
Active pallbearers will be Flynn Allen, Glenn Allen, Emmett Allen, Bud McCullough, Herman McCullough and Lum Allen.
