Hazel I. Petznick, 91, of Alma Center, died on Tuesday, March 4, 2003, at the Fairchild Health Care Center, Fairchild, Wisconsin.
She was born on October 2, 1911, in Davis County, Iowa, to parents Perley and Cora Mae (Copeland) Greiner. She married Harold W. Petznick on June 4, 1929, in Northwood, Iowa. They made their home in Iowa until moving to Wisconsin in 1951. Her husband of fifty-seven years died on July 19, 1986.
Hazel will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Hazel was a great cook and she enjoyed working in her garden, baking and doing handiwork, always sharing with those around her. She also loved playing cards, especially 500.
Surviving family members are her son, William (Bonnie) Petznick of Elko, Nevada; daughter Jeanette (Jack) Ganders of Amarillo, Texas; daughter-in-law Shirley Petznick of Fairchild; brother Jim Greiner; sisters Ruth Belz, Faye Severson and Louise Kirchgatter; seven grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; besides other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Lloyd, and by six brothers and six sisters.
Funeral services for Hazel I. Petznick were held at 11 am, Monday, March 10, 2003, at Grace Lutheran Church, Alma Center, with Reverend Ricky Bertels officiating. Additional services were held Tuesday, March 11, 2003 at 11 am at the Worlein Funeral Home, Austin, Minnesota, with burial in Woodbury Cemetery, Lyle, Minnesota.
