US Congressman. He was educated in Syracuse and served in the Army in Europe during World War II, attaining the rank of First Lieutenant and receiving the Bronze Star Medal and Purple Heart. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1945 and received his law degree from Syracuse University in 1948, and practiced in Syracuse. A Republican, he served on the Onondaga County Board of Supervisors from 1948 to 1958. From 1959 to 1961 he was Assistant Secretary to Governor Nelson Rockefeller. From 1963 to 1971 he was a member of the New York State Assembly. In 1970 he ran successfully for the US House and served one term, 1971 to 1973. he did not run for reelection in 1972, and became Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of the Niagara Mohawk Power Company. After leaving Niagara Mohawk in 1987 he practiced law in Syracuse. In retirement he resided in Syracuse and Vero Beach, Florida.
