Son of Lela Carroll and Guy C. Mallory. He entered military service at Camp Croft, South Carolina, on January 12, 1943. After basic training he was sent to the European theater.

Private First Class Mallory was one of the many soldiers Killed in Action while serving in France after the D-Day invasion. His body was interred overseas.

In 1948, the remains were exhumed from European burial and returned to the United States. On December 12, 1948, funeral services were conducted at Green Street Baptist Church, High Point, followed by burial in Floral Gardens.
