John Lancy, a well known citizen of this town and a veteran of the Civil War, died Sunday at his home, 22 Maverick street, at the age of 90 years. He was born in Marblehead on August 30, 1837, the son of John and Almira (Lemon) Lancy. He had held a number of public offices, having been a member of the Board of Assessors, Overseer of the Poor, and also a member of the Finance Committee. He was secretary of the Grand Lodge, Knight of Pythias 1908-9, and had been president of the Marblehead Co-operative Bank for the past 35 years.

Three daughters, Miss Elizabeth Lancy, with whom he lived, Mrs. Francis Courtis and Mrs. John T. Bartlett of Lynn, 10 grandchildren and one great-grandson survive him. He was a member of John Goodwin Jr. Post 82, G.A.R., Neptune Lodge, Knights of Pythias and the Mugford Association.

Funeral services were held for him on Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the family home, 22 Maverick street. Rev. Harris G. Hale of the Old North Church officiated.
