BUCHER Rose D. Bucher, 87, passed away September 4, 2013, at the Palomar Medical Center West in Escondido, California. Rose was born November 24, 1925, in Jefferson City, Missouri, the daughter of Frank H. and Bertha (Dulle) Roling. Rose was a 1943 graduate of St. Peter High School. After high school, she was employed at Bell Telephone Company in Jefferson City and Omaha, Nebraska. The former Rose Roling was united in marriage to Lloyd Mark "Pete" Bucher at St. Peter Catholic Church in Jefferson City on June 10, 1950. Rose is remembered for her tireless efforts in the release of the crew of the USS Pueblo, captured in 1968, by North Korea, of which her husband was the Captain. After 11 months of captivity the crew was finally released. She is survived by a son, Michael of Poway, California; three grandchildren, Mahala, Napali, and Erik Bucher; and a sister, Loyola Priest of Eau Claire, Wisconsin. She was preceded in death by her husband, "Pete"; a son, Mark; her parents; a sister, Angela Smedegard; and two brothers, Leonard Roling and John Roling. Visitation for Rose was held from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday, September 9, at Poway-Bernardo Mortuary. The funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 10, at St. Michaels Catholic Church in Poway, California. Graveside service took place at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery at Point Loma at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 12, 2013.
