Charles W. Goldthorpe, worthy citizen of Mineral Point, died early last Saturday morning after an illness of two weeks. He was born here in 1845; and he was married in 1866 to Miss Dorothy Adkins. His good wife, seven daughters and two sons survive him and all were present at the bedside when he passed away.
Charles W. Goldthorpe enlisted in the Civil War at the age of 17 years, as a member of the 30th Wis. regiment and served three years. He was every inch a man-faithful and exemplary as husband, father and citizen.
The funeral was helf Monday afternoon , and was largely attended. Rev. A.H. Schoenfeld officiated. The burial rites of the Grand Army of the Republic were impressively pronounced at the grace.
