Sgt. 1st Class Brandon K. Sneed of Norman, Oklahoma was raised in Houston and joined the Army after high school following graduation in 1990 from Alief Hastings High School in Houston. He met his future wife while they were both stationed in Arizona. The couple married and made their first home in her home state of Oklahoma after finishing their tours in 1994. One of the last messages she got from him was an e-mail he sent gloating about the Texas Longhorns' victory over the Sooners. The football rivalry had become a tradition in the Sneed home, but he had been unable to celebrate the game at home this year. When he was home, Brandon enjoyed spending time with his wife and two sons. He loved to play and watch football with them. He began to love football after playing at Alief Hastings High School in Houston. In Iraq, he commanded an M2A2 Bradley Fighting Vehicle, which he was aboard when the improvised bomb exploded Monday, killing him and another soldier. Brandon was killed at age 33 when an explosive device detonated near his military vehicle during operations in Iraq.
