NELLIE M. JONES, 92, beloved mother of Cheryl E. Jones, of Hillsdale, NY, and Jerry E. Jones, of Chardon, OH, died peacefully at Noble Horizons, in Salisbury, CT, on November 1, 2009, with her devoted daughter at her side. Born on September 9, 1917, in Rosby's Rock, WV, where her parents were visiting her grandmother, she was raised in Cleveland, OH and spent most of her adult life in the Willoughby-Eastlake area of Cleveland. The oldest of ten children from Henry and Etta Mae Leimkuehler, Mrs. Jones served as "nonny" to all of her siblings, when her mother died an untimely death, at age 42. Mostly self-taught, she excelled in domestic arts, making herself an expert seamstress, baker, cook, gardener, and mother. Mrs. Jones was blessed with a lovely alto voice and a natural talent for music. She loved popular American songbook jazz and could charm most people with long forgotten lyrics to some funny jazz tune. A natural teacher, she shared her talents generously, without judgement and was loved dearly, by all who knew her. In addition to her children, she is survived by her sister, Ethel; brother, Howard; two grandchildren, Paul Jones and Stefanie Parker, of Columbus, OH and one great-granddaughter, Morgan Parker, also of Columbus. Her cherished husband, Edmund Gordon Jones, who was employed by the Cleveland Public Library, died in 1974.
