Entertainer, Songwriter. Toofan, who was born in Astara, Iran, started playing guitar at age 17, working with Iranian singers including pop singer Googoosh. He started a band of his own and later became a singer as his career grew. Among his popular hit songs were 'Khodaye Asemoonha' and 'Baleh Baleh' before the Islamic revolution banned his mucic in 1979. After the revolution, he worked and lived in London where he would perform benefits in clubs, then moved to Los Angeles in the 90's where he performed in concerts, clubs and special events and released several more albums including 'Be Hamim'. Toofan died of lung cancer at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center just 5 days after attending an all-star tribute in his honor by fellow musicians and entertainers.
