DR. FRANCIS ANTHONY VELTRE, 80 of Cambridge, Maryland, formerly of Linthicum Heights, Maryland, went to Heaven on December 17, 2008 in Easton, Maryland.

Dr. Veltre earned his graduate degree in Microbiology from the University of Maryland where he continued his education and received his Doctorate in Dentistry. Dr. Veltre practiced family dentistry in Linthicum Heights for over 40 years. He also served as President of the Maryland State Board of Dental Examiners. Dr. Veltre was also an Associate Professor at the University of Maryland Dental School and taught at the School of Pharmacy.

He proudly served in the United States Marine Corp.

Francis Veltre married Eleanor on August 31, 1957 in Baltimore, Maryland.

His many loves, other than his wife, children, grandchildren and extended family, were cooking, gardening, crabbing, fishing and is his younger days, tennis, golfing and camping.

He has been an outstanding husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend to so many. His love for life was a testament to all that knew him - he will be deeply missed, but our lives have been forever blessed for having him in it.

Francis was born on April 30, 1928, in Tyler, PA, son of Joseph and Carmella Veltre, predeceased. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Eleanor (nee Blottenberger) and his seven children, Carmina Price, Christina McVey, Carla Andrews, Anita Wolf, Angela McNulty, Francis Veltre, Paula Montgomery, 14 grandchildren Heather Cummings, Thomas Price, Ryan and Erin McVey, Brendon and Elyse Andrews, Christina and Cara Wolf, John, Meghan and Kevin McNulty, Maurianna and Kyle Veltre and Owen Montgomery. He is survived by a daughter-in-law, six sons-in-law, three sisters, Flora Scalia, Sophie Rupp and Nancy McMahon and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the LOUDON PARK FUNERAL HOME, 3620 Wilkens Avenue on Friday, December 19, 2008 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 20 at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, S. Orchard Road, Linthicum.

Entombment Loudon Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Dr. Veltre's honor to Dr. A. Hinduja at the Shore Health Foundation Dialysis Unit, P.O. Box 1846, Easton, MD 21501 or the Palliative Care Suite Fund, 219 South Washington Street, Easton, MD 21601.
