July 1, 1928 – November 16, 2013

Norris R. Spainhower, 85 of Monroe died at 6:50 a.m. Saturday at the Lutheran Home of Monroe. He had been in poor health poor health for the past 18 months.

Friends may call from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Rupp Funeral Home where a memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Rev. John Schinkel, chaplain of the Lutheran Home will officiate.

Born July 1, 1928 in Kingston, Missouri he was the son of Hubert and Rowena (McBeath) Spainhower. He married Glenda Rush on August 20, 1949 in Toledo. She preceded him in death on February 26, 2012.

Norris served his country in the US Navy from February 26, 1946 to May 3, 1947. He was also a long time business man in Monroe. He and his wife owned and operated Spainhower Auction Company until retiring in 2003.

He was a Colonel in the National Auctioneer Association and graduated from the Missouri Auctioneer School. For many years he did charity auctions for Duck Unlimited, Pheasants Forever and Grosse Ile Hospice.

Surviving are his daughters, Lisa (Thomas Gregg) Spainhower of Highland, New York and Rowena (Michael) Pelczynski of San Jose, California; grandson SFC Lukas (Jennifer) Blair; great-grandson Rush Nathaniel Blair; nieces, Jessica Wood and Susan Ewing and sister-in-law Willene Chalmers.

The family would like to thank the Collum family for all the loving care and the Lutheran Home staff for all the kindness, courtesy and quality care given Norris during his stay with them.

He was preceded in death by his wife and parents.

In lieu of flowers memorials contributions may be made to the Lutheran Home.
