Actor, Comedian, Musician, Television News Reporter. He is best remembered for his role on the popular television series, "Saturday Night Live" during the 1980-1981 season. Born Charles Adams Claverie in Bangor, Maine, he attended the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) in the late 1960s, and made several short films, and played with his band, "the Fabulous Motels." During the 1970s, he anchored the local news for Channel 12, WPRI, in Rhode Island. He made is network debut on the television series "Saturday Night Live," noted for introducing many new stars to the television audience. While many of the new cast did not please the audience, Rocket did. On February 21, 1981, he and several other actors played a parody of the "Who shot J.R.?" episode from the television drama "Dallas," in which Rocket plays the role of J.R. and is shot. At the end of the show, with several more minutes to go, Rocket and guest star Charlene Tilton (from the show, "Dallas") improvised onstage, and when Tilton asked Rocket how he felt about being shot, he replied "I'd like to know who the F*** did it," with the audience reacting with shocked laughter. Use of profanity was forbidden by the television code, and very quickly Rocket and two others were fired. Despite this setback, Rocket would appear in many television shows, such as Quantum Leap, Touched by an Angel, Picket Fences, Grace Under Fire, The X Files, Star Trek: Voyager, and the King of Queens. He would also find work in movies, appearing in such films as "Earth Girls are Easy" (1988), as Lt. Elgin in "Dances with Wolves" (1990), as General Larchmont in "Wagons East" (1994), as Nicholas Andre in "Dumb and Dumber" (1994), as Jeffrey Groves in "Murder at 1600" (1997), and "Shade" (2003). Rocket was found dead in the yard of his house in Canterbury, Connecticut, with his throat cut. The Connecticut Medical Examiner ruled that he committed suicide. He was married and had a son, Zane.
