Solon Douglas Scruggs
Solon Douglas Scruggs, 64, of 225 Pineville Road, died Sunday at his home.
Native of Cherokee County; son of R. Dewey and Lunette Stacy Scruggs of Spartanburg; owner and president of Solon D. Scruggs Agency Inc. for the past 35 years; member of Westminister Presbyterian Church; 32nd degree Mason; belonged to both the Scottish and York rites; member of Spartan Masonic Lodge No. 70, member of Hejaz Shrine Temple, Spartanburg Shrine Club and the Citadel Alumni Association; U.S. Navy veteran of World War II; recipient of the Purple Heart.
Surviving: sons, Solon Douglas Scruggs Jr. of Spartanburg, and Paul Sackette Scruggs of Chesnee; daughter, Julianne S. Eller of Toccoa, Ga.; sister, Mrs. Warren Abernathy of Spartanburg; one granddaughter.
Graveside services 11 Tuesday in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Charles H. Horne.
Family to receive friends 7-9 tonight at the home of the sister, Mrs. Warren Abernathy, 111 Hillbrook Drive.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children, 2100 N. Pleasantburg Drive, Greenville, S.C.

Mr. Scruggs died Sunday.
