In 1937, she married Maurice Leon Arnovitz and settled in Marinette. Her husband of 36 years passed away October 23, 1973.
Her father-in-law Peter Arnovitz started the Marinette Iron & Metal around 1893 and Maurice began working for his father in 1937. Maurice bought out his sisters' shares in the business and became sole owner in 1945. Betty and Maurice ran the business from 1945 to 1973.
Upon Maurice's death, Betty took over the business and operated it solely from 1973 to 1978. In 1978, she sold the business but continued as office manager with the new owners. In 1987, at the age of 70, she retired and dissolved her Betarn Corporation.
Betty designed and built her home that she resided in for 54 years. She lived at Harbors Assisted Living Facility for the last 1-1/2 years. Betty was a member of Congregation Montifiore, Lady Elks of Menominee, and a life long member of Hadassah. In 1990, she was named Lady Elk of the Year. She was an avid bridge player and a casino regular.
Betty is survived by two daughters: Arlyne (Richard) Lepie of Buffalo, NY and Elaine Torosian of St. Petersburg, FL;
and a son Gene Arnovitz (Sarah) of Santa Rosa, CA;
four grandsons and two granddaughters; six great-grandsons and one great-granddaughter.
