BEACH - Raymond W. Hayford, 81, of Fort Hill Ave. died Saturday morning in the care of his family at the home of his daughter Cheryl 'Cheri' after a long illness. He was born in Biddeford on September 9, 1922 a son of Wilbur and Elizabeth Taylor Hayford and was educated in Biddeford schools.

He served with the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II.

On February 13, 1961 he married Lucy E. 'Kelly' Lawrence Girard in O.O. Beach.

Mr. Hayford worked 30 years with H.P. Hood & Sons Co. in Portland retiring in 1988.

He was predeceased by a son Daniel Hayford in 2003.

Surviving are; his wife of 43 years of Biddeford,

3 sons; Kenneth Hayford of Bridgeport, CT, Steven Hayford of Norwalk, CT, Rob Girard of Winston-Salem, NC; 4 daughters; Edith Maynard of Hiram, Gail Davis of Claremont, FL, Susan Milburn of Hancock, NH Cheryl 'Cheri' Verrier of Saco; 3 sisters; Dorothy Peck of Biddeford, Jean Coughlin of Sanford Shirley Beaudoin of Saco; 11 grandchildren & 8 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

There will be no visiting hours. A memorial funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm St. Biddeford, Me 04005. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Biddeford. Memorial donations in Raymond's memory may be made to the National Kidney Foundation of Maine 630 Congress St. P.O. Box 1134 Portland, ME 04104-1134.
