Ramona Reaves Batson McKoy, 78, of Burgaw, died Saturday, December 14, 2013, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice and LifeCareCenter. Mona was born January 30, 1935 in Hampstead, NC, daughter of the late William F. Reaves and Vera Carlyle Howard Reaves. Her first husband, Larry Nathan Batson, preceded her in death. Mrs. McKoy was a member of Barlow-Vista Baptist Church. She had a loving heart. She loved people, all animals, and seafood. Mona was an avid cook who enjoyed family gatherings especially on holidays. She is survived by her daughter, Vivian Batson Bailey (William) of Crossville, TN; son, Carl Nathan Batson (LaRhonda) of Hampstead, NC; four granddaughters, Jessica Brooke Batson of Wilmington, NC, LaTressa Whitt of Rocky Point, NC, LaKara Schaus (Jake) of Hampstead, NC, and LaTiah Smith (Josh) of Bolivia, NC; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Delphine Nott of Atkinson, NC; and four nephews. The family will receive friends from 6pm to 8pm Tuesday, December 17, 2013, at Andrews Hampstead Chapel. A funeral service will be 3pm Wednesday, December 18, 2013, at Barlow-Vista Baptist Church with Rev. Danny Justice, Dr. Bill Guthrie, and Rev. Nathan Morton officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
