Robert Lee Jackson - Chapter 61, Verse 6
For may we all remember the day, when a modest man entered into our lives. His divine spirit touched our minds and hearts, and he filled us with kindness, laughter, and delight. Amen

BIOGRAPHY

Robert Lee Jackson was called to divine service by our Lord and Savior on Thursday, December 12, 2013. Tribute is bestowed to a deacon, husband, father, educator, jack-of-all trades, and friend.

Robert was born on Sunday, June 8, 1952 as the sixth child to Albert Jackson (35) and Rosa Lee Middlebrooks Jackson (34). He was educated in Houston County and participated in track and football at Pearl Stephens High School. He completed his Bachelors at Fort Valley State. On January 03, 1974, Robert married Feddie M. Zeigler, daughter of Rollie Zeigler Sr. and Vera Mae Butler, and remained married for 40 years. The couple resided in Kathleen, Georgia and were blessed with two sons, Marvin and Reginald. Robert worked at Atlanta Journal and Constitution Distribution Center of Perry for 20 years. He worked as a social studies teacher at Northside Middle School of Warner Robins for 30 years and retired in 2006.

As a youth, Robert accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and joined the Sandbed Baptist Church. As a dedicated member, in June 1985, he was ordained as a deacon under Reverend David E. Savage. He continued his faith and heavenly duties as a member and deacon of New Hope Baptist in August 2008 under Pastor Dennis Harden.

While his presence and fellowship shall be missed, Robert leaves behind several charges to keep: 1. you must be willing to give in order to receive, 2. compassion for others is a must, and 3. devotion to faith is a fruitful endeavor. Deacon Jackson understood the secret to receiving God's love and giving it away to others. For when he sung his favorite spiritual Dressing Up Room, Robert knew his works on this earth prepared him for his arrival before God to receive his crown of glory.

Robert's life and memory was honored at New Hope Baptist, arranged by Richardson Funeral Home, and laid to rest at Parkway Memorial Gardens in the Fountain section (27-C-3) on Tuesday, December 17, 2013.

I was deeply saddened to hear of Robert's death. We taught together in the social studies department at NJH for many years. Robert was always professional, polite, and kind. I am certain that many young lives were enriched and inspired by Robert's influence and knowledge. He will be missed by a multitude of former students, friends and family but his legacy will continue to influence and inspire. It was an honor to know and work with this dedicated educator.

The Common Man

No plaque adorns his wall,
No trumpet heralds his flame;
No parade welcomes him,
No one shouts his name.
But thank God for him --
He is the common man!

He will work throughout his life,
Raise a family and love his wife;
Pay his taxes, settle his debts,
Be a good man with no regrets.
Still no one praises his name,
But how God loves him --
He is the common man!

No statue in the city square,
No street bears his name;
No one remembers him,
His face so very plain.
But on his death,
The angels will plan,
As God welcomes his friend --
The beloved common man!
