Sergeant Evan Seam Parker, who was serving in the United State Army stationed in Iraq, gave the ultimate sacrifice for his country on Oct. 26, 2005 at the age of 25. Evan Seam Parker was born May 1, 1980 in Wichita, KS to parents Daniel M. and Anita P. Parker. Following a divorce and remarriage of his parents, Evan moved to South Haven with his mother and stepfather, Randall Foster in 1985. Evan attended South Haven public schools where he graduated in May of 1998. Evan married Brandi L. Brown in 1999. They were blessed with two sons, Blake Edward in 1999 and Conner James in 2001. The marriage between Evan and Brandi was dissolved in March of 2005. Evan joined the United States Army in May of 1999 and was stationed at Scholfield Army Barracks Wahiawa, Hawaii until he was honorable discharged in 2003. Evan, who was currently living and working in Kansas, was recalled for active duty in November of 2004 and went to Iraq in March of 2005. During that time he was promoted to Sergeant. In May of 2005, with a minor injury, Evan was awarded his first Purple Heart. On Oct. 23, 2005, Evan was critically injured by a roadside bomb while performing vehicle checks with his unit. Evan succumbed to those injuries at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany on Oct. 26, 2005. Evan was also awarded his second Purple Heart. Evan is survived by his sons, Blake and Conner; mother, Anita Foster; father and stepmother, Danny and Tanya Parker; brothers, Lance and wife, Tara, Caleb, Andre' and wife, Emily, and Brian; grandmother, Opal Dunlap. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Evan was preceded in death by his grandparents, Edward Dunlap and John and Ruby Parker. Visitation 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2005, Frank Funeral Home, Wellington; service for Evan Parker will be held at South Haven Public School Gymnasium, South Haven, KS, Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2005 at 2 p.m. Pastor Michael Roberts of the South Haven Methodist Church will officiate. Entombment will be at the Rose Hill Cemetery in South Haven, KS preceding the services. A memorial fund has been established in the name of Evan S. Parker, Sergeant, United States Army in c/o Army Fisher House in Landstuhl, Germany. Army Fisher House provides comfort, caring and compassion beyond the call of duty. Fisher House is dedicated to the greatest national treasure...our country's military service men and women and their loved ones. Frank Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
