Lillie Mae Hoffman, 90, widow of ex-governor

SOUTH AMBOY – Lillie Mae Hoffman, 90, wife of the late Harold G. Hoffman, a former governor of New Jersey, died Wednesday in West Bend, Wis.
She was a lifelong South Amboy resident, residing on North Broadway for many years.
Her husband, Harold G. Hoffman, was governor from 1932 to 1935. He died in 1954. He had been Mayor of South Amboy, an assemblyman and a member of Congress.
Mrs. Hoffman was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in South Amboy.
She also was a member of the South Amboy Women's Club and the South Amboy Republican Club.
During World War II, she was a Supervisor of women at General Motors in Linden.
She also was a member of the American Red Cross and a first-aid instructor during war.
Mrs. Hoffman was also predeceased by two daughters, Lillie Fishman, who died in 1950, and Ada Leonard, who died in 1981.
Surviving are a daughter, Hope Cross of West Bend; 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Christ Episcopal Church in South Amboy.
Burial will follow in Christ Church Cemetery, South Amboy.
Mason-Wilson Funeral Home, 241 Bordentown Ave., South Amboy, is handling arrangements.
