Armstead FLYNN, an aged and respected citizen living near Clifty, departed this life July 27, 1897, after an illness of about six months, aged seventy-six years, four months and twenty days. He was born in North Carolina and came with his parents to Indiana, where he was married to Eliza BAKER. To their union were born eight children, two of whom have passed on before their father. He leaves a wife and six children and several grandchildren to mourn their loss. He was laid to rest in the FLYNN cemetery at 2 p. m. on Tuesday, there to await the resurrection morn’ of Him who has said: “If I go and prepare a place for you I will come again, that where I am there you may be also.”—John 14, 3d verse. There is a stronger tie now that binds our hearts to Heaven. One by one we cross the river to that bright and shining shore for we feel that it is our loss, but Heaven’s gain. Dear grandfather, he has left us never more to return, but to sit and watch with angels when one of us comes home. Do not weep dear wife or children, for his sufferings are all over, and we feel that his is resting on that bright and peaceful chore. Oh! how often have we gathered round the hearth stone and sat and listened at grandpa tell tales of long ago. But when we were called to meet with the friends and loved ones around the cold corpse of the one that we love, it is then and not before that we realize what death is; to know that we were to part never more to meet on earth. But when we think of Him that said, not every one that saieth Lord shall enter the Kingdom of Heaven, but he that doeth the will of my father, we will calmly wait, not for father’s return, but for the resurrection morn’, when we will all meet never more to part, but live in one bright and peaceful home
