Funeral services for Ronald "Ronnie" Ott, 60, of Lexington, Texas are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at St. John Lutheran Church in Dime Box, Texas with Rev. Roger Millheim officiating.

Burial will immediately follow in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 10, 2014 from 7:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Saturday, January 11, 2014 from 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 a.m. at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings. The family will be present for visitation Friday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

Ronald Eugene Ott was born on February 15, 1953 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to Leonard E. (Born Nov. 20, 1929 and Died Aug. 15, 1990. Buried in Amite Baptist Church Cemetery Old in Denham Springs, Louisiana.) & Vinnie (Collier) Ott (Born Feb. 9, 1931 and Died March 31, 2011. Buried in Amite Baptist Church Cemetery Old in Denham Springs, Louisiana.).

He graduated from Scarborough High School in Houston, Texas in 1972.

Ronnie was united in marriage to Peggy Spitzenberger on April 5, 1975 in Houston, Texas. He had been employed with Koch Energy and had spent the last 10 years working as a truck driver and trainer with Mission Petroleum.

Ronnie was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Dime Box as well as the International Barbecue Cookers Association (IBCA). He was a hardworking man who enjoyed barbecuing, camping and his daily visit to Kovasovic's Country Store in Deanville. He loved his dogs, Rambo, Sadie, Sugar and Cocoa and the time he spent with his grandkids and great grandson always gave him great joy and brought a smile to his face.

Ronnie passed away unexpectedly the morning of Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at St. David's Medical Center in Austin.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Wesley Ott (FAG #93248192); his sister, Diane Granger and his father-in-law, Robert Spitzenberger. Paternal Grandparents, Lawrence A. Ott (1900 - 1985)and Sallie W. Ott (1900 - 1987)Both buried at Amite Baptist Church Cemetery Old in Danham, Louisiana. His father's brothers, Cline A. Ott 1923-2012 and Larry Dale Ott 1937-1997 and father's sister, Mary Anna Ott 1924-2001 and Molly Ott..

Ronnie is survived by his wife of 38 years, Peggy Ott of Lexington; three daughters and sons-in-law, Jennifer & Darrell Nail Jr., Heather & Brandon Exner and Michelle Ott & Frederick Benson all of Lexington; eight grandchildren, Darrell Nail III & Samantha Russo, Chelsey Nail, Kourtnee Nail, Bailey Exner, Braden Exner, Karley Schulz, Allison Benson and Kaela Benson all of Lexington; great grandson, Darrell "Bubba" Nail IV of Lexington; mother-in-law, Julia Spitzenberger of Lexington; two brothers-in-law, Leslie Spitzenberger & his wife, Mary of Lexington and Robert Spitzenberger & his wife, Janet of Lexington; nephews and nieces, Darren Ott & Kimberly Delgadillo, Roger Granger Jr., Saraha Shotts, Cyndie Lopez, Stephannie & Robert Pelham, Robert & Ashley Spitzenberger, Robert Spitzenberger Jr., Tyler Spitzenberger and Brandi Spitzenberger.

Serving as pallbearers will be Darrell Nail III, Robert L. Spitzenberger, Robert K. Spitzenberger Jr., Robert Pelham, Tyler Spitzenberger and Darren Ott. Honorary pallbearers will be Darrell Nail Jr., Brandon Exner, Frederick Benson and Darrell Nail IV.

Memorials may be made to St. John Lutheran Church in Dime Box, the American Heart Association or to the charity of one's choice.
