Myrtle "Alberta" Hatfield McCarthy was the daughter of Doc and Mary Elizabeth (Grimes) Hatfield. She married George M. McCarthy in Elizabethtown and moved to Janesville in June 1960. Alberta was a brownie and Girl Scout leader for years when her children were young. She loved quilting, birdwatching, and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was survived by her husband, George; 5 children; 9 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; a sister; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Christopher Fiedler; 2 brothers, Joe and Felix Hatfield; and 2 sisters, Inez Sanders and Mary Bewley.
