MOS: 71H40 Personnel Specialist.
Upon arriving in Vietnam 21 January 1968, SSgt Mitchem was assigned to Advisor Team 58, Headquarters, MACV Advisors, MACV.
SSgt Mitchem died as a result of shrapnel wounds to the body when the camp came under hostile rocket fire.
SSgt Mitchem served his country for 10 years.
Survived by his wife, Shirley Ann Mitchem, his 2 children; Charles Clifford and Laurie Charlene Mitchem all of 133 Carrol Ave, Woodridge, Virginia, and his parents; Mr and Mrs Allen Mitchem of Box 155, Anavelt, Virginia.
This was the last time time daddy was to leave us. He was loved by all who knew him. His line to bury him was 2 and 1/2 miles long a lot of cars of people that loved him.
