Charles C. Martin Died at 6:40 This Morning
YOUNGEST SON OF SENATOR MARTIN
His Father and Brother Were at His Bedside When He Died-All was Done That Could Be, but God Willed Otherwise-The Body Will be Taken to Topeka in the Morning.

In room number 18 at the Santa Fe hotel, at 6:40 this morning Charles C. Martin breathed his last. His death was caused by peritonitis and appendicitis. [Details of illness and surgery omitted for brevity]

Charles C. Martin was born in Topeka October 1, 1864. He was the youngest son of Senator John Martin and Caroline Martin. He leaves to mourn his death his aged father and mother, sister Caroline, and brother John. Charles' death is the first in the Martin family and his father and brother, who are here, are very much affected. What makes Mr. Martin's death doubly sad is the fact that his mother is an invalid and the senator and John have fears that she can not bear to receive the sad news of the death of her youngest boy, whom she saw only a few days ago in perfect health.

The remains will be taken to Topeka to-morrow morning for burial, and a number of Charlie's intimate friends of this city will take the train and follow him to his last resting-place.

Charles Martin had been a resident of Hutchinson about nine months, coming here when he received the appointment as receiver for the Hutchinson National bank, and no gentleman ever made more friends and fewer enemies than he did. He was of a quiet disposition, a perfect gentleman and had a kind heart, and to know him was to have an admiration for him. His death will be as sad a blow to the people of Hutchinson as it will be to his life-long friends and acquaintances in Topeka, his birthplace.
