_______________
Hubert Harold "Tim" Yancy was born on July 20, 1920, in Brownwood, Texas, the child of Monroe James Yancy and Mollie Thomas.

The story of Tim's name was told by his daughter. His mother Mollie did not name him on his birth certificate. His birth certificate just says "Yancy." She said "I know his name is Hubert Harold and that's all I need." However, Tim was not a fan of his birth name. When he enlisted in the military, his birth certificate did not have a first name listed. The Navy asked him to add an name in, so he called himself Timothy, or 'Tim'.

Tim was stationed at Goodfellows Air Force Base in San Angelo, Texas. There he met and married Joan Marie Ellett, daughter of Joseph Colley and Bernice Estelle (Garrett) Ellett, on September 14, 1941 in San Angelo, Texas. They had one daughter together, Vicki Ann Yancy (later adopted by Wilson Joiner). The marriage ended in divorce on September 18, 1944.

He served in the US Navy during World War II. Tim was awarded a purple heart during the War.

Tim married Noble Joyce Wells, daughter of Hoyt Curtis Wells Sr. and Dovie Mae Camp, on March 7, 1946. They had four children together, Cornelia Katheryn Yancy, Karen Lynn Yancy, Kandance Faye Yancy and Timothy Harold Yancy.

Tim died on July 23, 1988, in Powell, Texas, at the age of 68, and was buried in at the Bradfield Chapel Cemetery in Daingerfield, Texas.
