Josephine (Darosz) Stawski, 100, of Newington died on Thursday, Sept. 10, 2015. She was the beloved wife of the late Walter John Stawski. Born in Poland, she was a Newington resident for the last 75 years. Josephine was a seamstress for many years and enjoyed sewing, crocheting, knitting and gardening. She was a member of Holy Spirit Church. Survivors include her children: Walter J. Stawski and his wife Rose of Newington, Mary Peterson of Lake Geneva, WI, Frances Picchioni of Westbrook, her five grandchildren: James and Christopher Stawski, Mary Catherine Yost, Elizabeth Beinhauer, John W. Peterson, nine great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by four sisters and her brother. Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday at Newington Memorial Funeral Home, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 10:00 a.m., at Holy Spirit Church. She will be laid to rest in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain. Memorial donation may be made, in her name, to Newington Volunteer Ambulance Corps, P.O. Box 310061, Newington, CT 06131 or to the Newington Senior & Disabled Center, 120 Cedar St., Newington, CT 06111.
