Mrs. Jellison Funeral Monday

Services To Be Held At Catholic Church Monday Morning For Wife Of Alderman

The funeral services for Mrs. Sarah A. Jellison, 54, who passed away here very suddenly Friday forenoon at 11:30 will be held on Monday morning at 9 o'clock at the Catholic church, the Rev. J. J. O'Carroll officiating. Interment will be in the Mount Calvary cemetery.

Deceased was born on October 6, 1869 [sic], in County Wexford, Ireland, and came to America about thirty years ago, settling first in Lake City, Minnesota, and remaining there with her uncle until coming to Miles City about five years later. Mrs. Jellison had been a resident of Miles City for twenty-five years, and held the high regard of all with whom she came in contact.

Mrs. Jellison is survived by her husband, Alderman Arthur Jellison, and one child, also one brother, who is a resident of Los Angeles. The decedent had been a member of the Altar Society of the Catholic church for a number of years.

Note: Greatgrand-Aunt Sarah was actually born in 1859 making her 64 years of age at the time of her death. Upon the death of her first husband in Ireland, she and her brother Myles, came to Lake City, Minnesota in 1884. She and her 2nd husband, James Pym left for Montana in 1889, settling in Miles City about 1891-92. After James' death in 1893, Sarah married James Welch in 1894. That marriage ended in divorce and in 1911 Sarah married Arthur Jellison.

In May 2014, I personally visited and made a thorough search of the remnants of this cemetery. There are several illegible metal markers scattered about with just a handful of graves that are marked.
