Myrtle was the daughter of James Thomas Cooper and Mary Adelaide Dermid. In 1934, she married Dr. Dudley Curtis Ashton, (son of Benjamin Parlett Ashton & Julia Thomas Atkinson in Rockville, Maryland The couple had no children.
