Son, fourth child of Benjamin Huger and Mary Kinloch Huger. Died in Charleston where his mother and siblings were forced to live after British occupation. Buried in the family vault.

December 16, 1785 letter from Mary Esther Kinloch Huger . . . "He[her husband Benjamin] was killed in the field of Battle, & eight months after I had a son, whom I called Benoni* but this with two other dear infants I lost in the midst of the troubles in which our unhappy Country was involved, I saw them deposited in the family Vault myself, because there was no one else to do that last friendly office . . ."

*Genesis 35:18 "And it came to pass, as her soul was departing, . . . that she called his name Ben‐oni [which means "son of my sorrow"]. . ."
