"He[her husband Benjamin] was killed in the field of Battle, & eight months after I had a son, whom I called Benoni* but this with two other dear infants I lost in the midst of the troubles in which our unhappy Country was involved, I saw them deposited in the family Vault myself, because there was no one else to do that last friendly office . . ."
