Carl L. (Top Cat) Kiger age 82 of Waynesburg died Thursday, May 1, 2008 in the Washington Hospital.

He was born October 24, 1925 in Waynesburg, a son of the late Lemon and Belle Wade Kiger.

Mr. Kiger served in the U.S. Navy during World War II on five different vessels. He was awarded the Pacific Theater Ribbon with two stars, the American Theater Ribbon, the World War II
Victory Medal, and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with two stars.

He worked as a bricklayer for several companies, retiring in 1988.

He was a member of American Legion Post 330 and a Life Member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4793 both in Waynesburg. He was affiliated with the Methodist Church and loved hunting,
gardening, and reading.

Surviving is his wife Delsie M. Sites Kiger whom he married on November 27, 1956; four sons, Russell (Bonnie) Kiger of Waynesburg, Mark (Tuttie) Kiger of Brockway, Paul and Joe Kiger both at home; one daughter Belle (Rodney) Rush of Sycamore; seven grandchildren, Becky (Andy) Payton of Waynesburg, Heather (Michael)
Farabee of Jefferson, Tabitha Rush of Sycamore, Tina (Douglas) Petete, Bridget Van Cook, and Selena Van Cook all of Hollidaysburg, and Tina (Steve) Swineford of Brockway; six great-grandchildren, Chloe and Karlee Payton, Payton Farabee, Logan and Larson Petete, and Steven Swineford; and one sister, Mary Ann Benton
of Oregon; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased are one stepdaughter, Ginger VanCook; two brothers, George Earl Kiger and Rex Kiger; and four sisters, Texa Walters, Betty Phillips, Mabel Kerns, and Virgie Staler.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9pm on Saturday at Behm Funeral Homes Inc., 182 West High Street, Waynesburg, where services will be held at 2pm on Sunday, May 4, 2008 with Rev. Mark Kiger officiating followed by interment at Fairview-Kiger Cemetery in Whiteley Township. Graveside Military honors will be accorded by the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Veterans all of Waynesburg, and the U.S. Navy. In lieu of flowers the family is accepting donations made payable to his widow, Delsie Kiger, 435 Dutch Run Road, Waynesburg, PA 15370.
