DR. DAVID ALLEN RILEY - Died Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at Monongalia General Hospital at the age of 75. He was a resident of Morgantown, West Virginia. The cause of death was a heart attack. He was born May 4, 1938 in Bridgeport, West Virginia to the late Byron Brooke and Dorothy B. Riley. He was a member of Avery United Methodist Church. David served in the United States Air Force from 1962-65 as a member of the Medical Service Administration Corp. He was a Life Member of Vietnam Veterans of America – Morgantown Chapter #306. He retired with Emeritus rank from WV School of Pharmacy in 1996 having served as Director of Continuing Education for twenty years. His previous position was Assistant Director of Pharmaceutical Services, University of Georgia, School of Pharmacy, Athens, Georgia. Dr. Riley was presented the "Outstanding Alumnus" award in 1979. The award is one of the highest honors given by the Alumni Association of WVU School of Pharmacy. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Janet Westfall Riley; his son Lawrence Brooke Riley of Gardnerville, Nevada; two grand-children, Alyssa Kristine and Trenton Brooke both at home. Cremation services were provided by Hastings Funeral Home. A Memorial Service was held at the Avery United Methodist Church on Saturday, February 8th at 11:00 AM with the Reverend Richard Work officiating. The family greeted friends from 9:00-11:00 AM. Inurnment was at the Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in David Riley's memory to the Avery United Methodist Church, 1152 Cheat Road, Morgantown, WV 26508.
