Tsai Lian Yu, also known as Veronica, was a student at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. In the early morning hours, she was driving to her home at 519 E Newmark, Monterey Park, when she was stopped by serial killer Richard Ramirez and shot to death in her vehicle at 500 N. Alhambra Road, Monterery Park. On September 20, 1989, Ramirez was found guilty of all charges: 13 counts of murder, 5 attempted murders, 11 sexual assaults and 14 burglaries. He died in prison in 2013.
