U.S. Congressman. Successful in agricultural pursuits, he was elected to several local offices in the Allens Hill, New York, community. In 1847, he was elected as a Whig to the Thirtieth and Thirty-first Congresses, serving until 1851. After leaving Congress, he resumed agricultural pursuits, then moved to Maryland, in 1868 and engaged in the manufacture of paper until his death.
