Frances Whisnant HILDEBRAN --- Mrs. Frances Abee Whisnant, 75, died Friday, Dec. 5, 2003, at Valdese General Hospital. Born on July 1, 1928, in Burke County, she was the daughter of the late Ed Abee and Annie Mae Cobb Abee. She is survived by her husband, Charles E. Whisnant, whom she married on Sept. 8, 1950. She was a member of the Hildebran United Methodist Church and was self employed. She was a graduate of Shelby Nursing School and after marriage was employed by Fort Sanders Hospital in Knoxville, Tenn. She was later employed by Valdese General Hospital, Dr. Coleman in Hildebran and then became self employed as an electrolysis until her retirement. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Steve Whisnant of Staunton, Va. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Hildebran United Methodist Church with the Revs. A. Wade Ogle and Paul Thompson officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Sunday at Bass-Smith Funeral Home. Burial will be in Catawba Memorial Park.
