Mr. Leon Wayne Wells, 76, a resident of Tate Road, Petersburg, and retired truck driver with Beatrice Food Company, died Thursday morning, June 15, 2000, at his residence.

A native of Lincoln County and son of the late Caddie B. and Katie E. Wright Wells, he was a member of the Ellington Parkway Church of God in Lewisburg. Mr. Wells was preceded in death by his wife, Levenia McCowan Wells, who died November 8, 1995, and a son, Charles Terry Wells.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Gwen and Billy Winsett of Petersburg; son and daughter-in-law, Don and Donna Wells of Petersburg; half-sister, Cheryl Taylor of California; brother, Robert K. Wells of Petersburg; six grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. at the Petersburg Chapel of McCauley Funeral Home with the Revs. Rocky Cunningham and Dean Pardon officiating. Interment will be in Talley Cemetery in Petersburg. McCauley Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
