He was a native and lifelong resident of Corpus Christi. He worked for Central Power and Light Company for 44 years, having started as a meter reader and retiring as the local office
manager. He was a member of St. Patrick's Parish and Men's Club, The Knights of Columbus Council #1202. The Sierra Club, The Order of Alhambra, Baza Caravan and The Civitan Club.
He was made a Knight of St. Sylvester in 1957.
He is survived by his wife, Bernice; two daughters, Elizabeth Menard of Houston and Peggy Cunningham of Friendswood, Texas; eight sons, Wallace E. Whitworth, Jr., Gerald Patrick Whitworth, Joseph Richard Whitworth and Daniel Lawrence Whitworth, all of Corpus Christi, Robert Joseph Whitworth of Victoria, William Bernard Whitworth of Beeville, Thomas Michael Whitworth and Jack Whitworth, both of Houston; a sister, Ann Johnson of Corpus Christi, three
brothers, Wyatt and Bill Whitworth, both of Corpus Christi, and Carlton Whitworth of Laredo; 20 grandchildren and three step-grandchildren.
A Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Friday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be
celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Seaside Memorial Park.
His sons will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Diocese of Corpus Christi Seminary Burse Fund, C/O 620 Lipan Street, Corpus Christi, Texas 78401 or to a favorite charity. I
