Margaret "Peg" Helen Cockrell, 97, was born on January 9, 1917 in Chicago to Theo and Robert Coon and died Feb. 23, 2014 in Carrollton, Texas. She will be buried with her husband Jim in Arlington National Cemetery and honored there as dedicated wife and mother during Jim's years as a POW in WWII. Peg was a long-time resident of Dallas after moving from Tulsa, and she taught math for many years at Ursuline Academy. A gifted teacher, she felt those years to be her proudest achievement. Surviving Peg include daughter Anne Matzelle and husband Wayne of Sugar Land, daughter Mary Johnson of Carrollton, son Bob Cockrell and wife Marti of Arlington, daughter Jane Davis and husband Phil of Sherman, sister Dorothy Sime and husband Bob of Kansas, brother-in-law Gene Cockrell of Tulsa, sixteen grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, six nieces and a nephew. Peg was preceded in death by her parents and brother Alden Coon. Peg is honored and remembered with contributions to the scholarship fund at Ursuline Academy.
