U.S. Congressman. Born in Greensburg, Pennsylvania, he attended Greensburg Academy, graduated from Jefferson College, studied law, was admitted to the bar in 1836 and commenced to practice law in Greensburg, Pennsylvania. He was a member of the Pennsylvania State Senate, (1852-53). In 1853, he was elected as a Democrat to the Thirty-third Congress, serving until 1855. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he resumed the practice of law until his death at age 69 in Greensburg, Pennsylvania.
