U.S. Congressman. He attended Pennsylvania State College, engaged in agricultural pursuits and served as the York, Pennsylvania town supervisor, (1918-22). He also was a member of the Pennsylvania State House of Representatives, (1929-30) York school board director, (1931-40) and president of the Pennsylvania State School Directors Association, (1939-40). He was elected as a Republican to the Seventy-sixth Congress, serving (1939-41) and elected to the Seventy-eighth Congress and to the next two succeeding Congresses, serving (1943-49). After his time in Congress, he worked as a real estate salesman and later died in retirement at age 84.
