U.S. Congressman. He attended Patrick’s Business College, then engaged in the manufacture and brokerage of cigars, (1906-34) and was burgess of Red Lion, Pennsylvania, (1921-30). In 1931, he was elected as a Democrat to the Seventy-second Congress and to the next three succeeding Congresses, serving until 1939. He then served in the office of the Pennsylvania State Treasurer, (1939-40) was elected to the Seventy-seventh Congress, serving (1941-43). An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he worked as editor of the plant magazine of the York Safe & Lock Company, (1943-44) and died shortly after that at age 67.
