US Congressman, Detroit Mayor. He served as Mayor of Detroit, Michigan from 1905 to 1906. A graduate of the University of Michigan, he was admitted to the Michigan Bar Association in 1892. He served during his time as the Detroit City Attorney 1894 to 1897, regent for the University of Michigan 1910 to 1911, and as a Wayne County Circuit Judge from 1911 to 1921, and from 1924 to 1927. In between his terms of Judge he was elected as a Republican to represent Michigan's 1st Congressional District in the United States House of Representatives, serving from 1921 to 1923.
