Russell James Ray, 59, of 495 South Meridan, died Wednesday in Midland Hospital Center after an illness.

Mr. Ray was born on July 5, 1919, in Coleman. He moved to Midland in 1925 and then later lived in Bay County. He married Phyllis Rogers in Midland on Nov. 9, 1946. He retired from the Dow Chemical Company on March 31, 1975, where he was a maintenance worker in the Bio-Chem lab.

Surviving are his wife; his mother Mrs. Dora Schupp of Coleman; son Russell, Charles and Michael, all of Midland; daughters Mrs. Lawrence (Betty Jo) Inman, and Mrs. Kirk (Sharon) Hall, both of Midland; brothers Willis of Farmington, Everett of Hastings, Roland of Peoria, Ill., and Robert of Midland and 10 grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Ware-Smith funeral home with the Rev. Robert E. Weber officiating. Burial will be in Homer cemetery. Friends may call after 7 p.m. today, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Fridoay and until the time of service on Saturday.

The family suggests memorials to the Pardee Cancer Treatment Committee. Midland Daily News dated 1-18/1979
